Madison, WI
May 10 2007, 6:23 PM EDT Madison, Wisconsin has more restaurants per capita than any other city it's size (275,000), and all ethnicities are represented: Tunisian, Japanese, Russian, Mexican, Afghanistan, Kabul, Indian, Moroccan, African, French, Italian, Middle eastern, German, Irish, Chinese, Thai -- you get the idea. Most are locally owned and there is a strong movement toward using locally grown meat and cheese and vegetables and salads. Slow Food is strongly represented, and Madison has one of he finest Farmers' Markets in the country, drawing about 20,000 people around the Capitol Square on Saturday mornings. Julia Child visited many times, and therestaurant L'Etoile was selected by James Beard Foundation in NY to cook Thanksgiving dinner last year for them. Raphael Kadushin who writes for Bon Appetit and other food magazines is one of our localrestaurant reviewers. -- Larry & Jill Okray 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
