| Pok Pok Address: Phone: Started as a street side "shack" serving "Thai Street food" a coupe of years ago and recently named The Oregonian's Restaurant of the year for 2007, it's easy to see why Andy Richter's little experiment has been so popular that he's expanded it into seating for about 40 in the converted basement of the house next door (accesssible for people with disabities thanks to a ramp). On our recent visit for lunch we enjoyed seating at one of the picnic tables outside and outstanding Khao Soi, grilled lamb skewers with a spicy red chile sauce and coconut rice. With so many great restaurants in Portland, and we visit only about once every two months, we find that we're reluctant to "go back" with so many other good places waiting in the wings. But this is definitely a "go back to" hole in the wall of a restaurant that deserves all the accolades its been receiving. Other diners say "don't miss" items are the lemon grass grilled game henns and the flank steak salad. |
