Chalkboard

Chicago, IL - Food & Wine Across America

Chalkboard is Chef/Owner Gilbert Langlois' 3 star restaurant in Chicago's tony Lincoln
Square. Just named one of Chicago's Best New Restaurants by Chicago Magazine,
Chalkboard is the ultimate in American comfort food with dishes such as Smoked Mac and Cheese and Airline Fried Chicken. Almost everything Langlois procures is organically grown
and only sustainable products are used. While the printed menu offers his personal
inspirations for each dish, the giant Chalkboard changes daily. A fabulous boutique wine list is is fairly priced. The idea here is fresh, fresh, fresh. Langlois' entire menu is his daily whim.
He and wife Elizabeth purchased this building and are doing the old fashioned "living above
the store" with their 1 year-old son, Owen, who is often seen at the restaurant, much to
the joy of the guests. This is a not to be missed restaurant. At only 34, Langlois who made his fame at Rushmore and later Sushi Samba Rio before opening his own place, should be in
Food & Wine's next Best New Chefs Issue!

Riccardo Trattoria
Address:2119 N. Clark St.
Phone: 773-549-0038

Ricardo's is a fantastic authentic Italian restaurant nestled in the heart of Lincoln Park. Chef Riccardo Michi has been cooking in the family business all his life (formally of Bice). His menu offers a wide variety but my favorites are the osso buco and spaghetti carbonara. They are both rich and full of flavor. My favorite appetizer is the Polpettine Arrabbiate, veal ricotta cheese meatballs in a spicy tomato sauce. The meatballs almost melt in your mouth. I have also enjoyed the beef carpaccio which is excellent. There are many pasta, meat and fish options to suit any food mood you may be in! As for dessert, I usually go for the gelatos or ice creams but there is also a tasty sounding ricotta cheesecake and warm apple pie along with a few other items.

I have tried many of the Italian restaurants in Lincoln Park and this is my favorite for true, real Italian food. You know it is good when well over half the restaurant diners are speaking Italian. Check it out for yourself at http://www.riccardotrattoria.com !!
